Shadow Node Network
The Shadow Node Network is the decentralized infrastructure layer responsible for processing Intents and broadcasting transactions to the Solana blockchain.
The Role of a Shadow Node
Shadow Nodes act as the executors of the Verdant ecosystem. They are responsible for:
Listening: Monitoring the mempool for signed Intents from users.
Computing: Running the pathfinding algorithms to determine the best route for Split Transactions.
Broadcasting: Submitting the actual transactions to the Solana validators.
Privacy by Design
Shadow Nodes do not have custody of your funds. They only possess the authority to execute the specific Intent you signed. They cannot alter the destination or the amount.
Additionally, the network utilizes a "Relayer" model. When a Shadow Node broadcasts a transaction for a user, the transaction fees are paid by the Node (and reimbursed by the user in the transfer payload). This ensures that the user's main wallet does not need to hold SOL for gas fees, which is a common way wallets are linked (the "Funding Source" leak).
This separation of duties ensures that the entity constructing the privacy path (the Node) is distinct from the entity originating the funds (the User).
